NATIONAL ELIGILBILITY TEST (NET) 2013-2014
The All India level by University Grants commission (UGC) organizes this exam with a twin objectives to identify suitable people who can be efficient candidate for Junior research fellowship (JRF) and the other objective is determine the eligibility for lectureship in various universities of India.
The notifications regarding this exam will be announced in April and generally the exam will be conducted in the month of June across 66 centers in India. The applications will be available in the link www.ugc.ac.in and www.ugcnetonline.in the examination fees varies according to the category to which the applicant belong. The eligibility to write this exam is that the applicant must completed their master degree with minimum of 55% marks in case of general category and minimum of 50% marks in case of SC/ST/PH candidates. They are exceptions regarding the eligibility to write this exam which will apply if the candidates fall under the specifications given in the applications.
There are 77 optional subjects like Social science, Forensic science, Computer software & application, Language, Environmental science, Electronic science, Humanities, etc. from which he candidate can select the subject in which they have sound knowledge. The scored obtained in this exam is valid for 2 years.
The examination is partitioned into 3 papers. The paper 1 consists of questions for a total of 100 marks that must be completed within duration of 85 minutes. The questions will check the reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking of the applicants. The Paper 2 consists of short questions from the subject opted by the candidates that has to answered in the booklet provided for a total of 100 marks that must be completed within a duration of 85 minutes. The paper 3 consists of descriptive question from the subject opted by the candidates for 200 marks that has to be completed within a duration of 150 minutes.
