TAMILNADU COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (TANCET)

This is organized by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of Government of Tamilnadu to admit candidates in various postgraduate courses in university as well as colleges affiliated to Anna University. Since it is organized by Anna University which is one of the top most universities in India there is high competition among students to crack this exam. As the students studied in this university get placement in top companies in India and abroad students are eager to join in this university. From this we can understand the quality of education provided by this University.

This exam is also applicable for non residents of Tamilnadu as per the norms of university. The applications will be issued from April in website www.annauniv.edu/tancet2011. The application cost is Rs.300 (general) & Rs.150/- (SC/ST) applicants which can be remitted by taking a demand draft in favour of Director Entrance examination Anna University, payable at Chennai which should have sent along with filled application before last week of April. An additional fee Rs.300/- will be charged for additional courses opted from in entrance examination. The exam will be across Tamilnadu in places like Chennai, Madurai, Nagercoil, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Salem, Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Vellore Trichy, Chidambaram, Dindigul, Erode, Karaikudi, and Tirunelveli in the month of May.

This exam can be taken only by a graduate who had completed his/her graduation. The candidates appearing for the final examination of the UG courses are also eligible for this exam.

The duration of the examination is 120 minutes. The examination pattern varies according to courses opted by the applicants. For MCA & MBA there will be 100 questions which will be asked in the areas of  Quantitative Ability Analytical reasoning ,Logical reasoning  ,Computer awareness verbal activity and  basic science while for Masters in Engineering the candidates has to attend compulsory specialized sections opted by the candidates. The term negative marking is applicable in this entrance exam.

Eligibity criteria :

MBA :

  • Must complete degree in any discipline or equal to reconized institution.

MCA :

  • Same as MBA Must complete degree in any disciline or equal to recognized institution.

M.Arch/M.plan :

  • Must have master’s degree.

M.E/M.Tech :

  • Must have mater’s degree or equal to have M.E/M.Tech.
